Buy genuine and save in the long run
Your golf customers have high expectations from their game. And you strive to prepare the course to the highest standards. However, the pressure is on to control costs. Machinery maintenance is one area that comes under focus - it needs to be done but could you save some budget by using look alike parts and having the work done by an independent repairer?
During the winter of 2011 – 2012, one golf course in the UK and Ireland tried just this approach. The bedknife failed leading to damage to the cutting cylinder and bearing housing. The repair work was done by the local John Deere dealer, meaning the customer paid for parts and labour twice.
The hardened cutting edge has separated from the body of the bedknife. It has been possible to insert the feeler gauge through the crack
The front edge of the bedknife was able to flex into the path of the cutting cylinder, damaging this blade.
The shock loading on the cutting cylinder was transmitted to the bearing housing causing it to shatter.
This is an extreme example of the problem caused by not using genuine parts. Even if a similar problem had been caused by genuine John Deere parts, our parts warranty would have covered the cost of replacement parts. And if the part had been installed by a John Deere dealership, the cost of labour for the repair would also be covered by the warranty.
Use genuine John Deere parts to be sure of cutting edge performance. All the time.
